Learning to Skip-count

This term I have been learning to skip-count in 2s.

I have been practising using an educational website mathsisfun.com to help me fill in the missing numbers and see pattern when I count in twos forwards and backwards.

Reflection:  this is a bit tricky to do fast.  I am quicker but not backwards.  I can do it at home and in the car to get better.  Waseema  24.11.17

Describing Fireworks

This term we have been learning to describe fireworks:
  • use interesting words
  • use describing words
  • use our senses (what we see, hear, feel etc)
  • use a language feature like:  onomatopoeia, simile

Reflection:
I did some good words.  I used like or as to make a simile.  I feel great about my writing because it sounds good and it makes sense.  Waseema  24.11.17

Daffodil Diamante

I am learning to write a Diamante Poem

  • use interesting (WOW) words to describe Daffodils
  • use a graphic organiser to help me form my diamond poem

It was a little hard to write all the words down, to think of them, I needed help to spell the words.
I liked my poem.  Waseema  01.09.17

I like the word 'crowns' Waseema,  A good try to use words in a diamond poem.  Remember to use each word only once.  Make every word count.  Mrs Templeton  01.09.17

Reading with Expression

I have been learning to read with fluency and expression

  • make changes to the expression in my voice
  • notice and identify punctuation to help me read

At first I was a bit shy but I liked reading it.  I tried to do good expression.
Waseema  31.08.17

Waseema I thought you did really well.  Keep looking carefully at the sounds as you scan along the words.  Lovely expression in your voice.  Mrs Templeton  31.08.17

Geometry: Classifying 3D shapes

I have been learning to identify, name, group, sort and classify 3D shapes using my own words and the language of geometry

Waseema, I was proud of the way you showed resilience by wanting to try a more challenging task.  By looking at the actual 3D shapes you were able to count the edges and faces.  Well done.  Mrs Templeton  28.08.17
